Today, City Council will once again take up the issue of decriminalizing some narcotics.

The council must vote on whether or not to override a mayoral veto and move forward with a resolution to initiate a discussion with the federal government on the decriminalization of some narcotics.

Newschannel 9 polled council members to find out how they plan to vote.

Rep. Beto O'rourke says he hopes the other council members vote to override the mayor's veto.

Rep. Steve Ortega says he's keeping an open mind going into the meeting. He says after discussing the issue with many people, he believes the action taken last week by the council was correct.

Rep. Eddie Holguin says he supports the resolution and open debate regarding the issue, but that is not to say he supports legalizing narcotics.

Rep. Rachel Quintana says she will wait and listen to those who come out and voice their opinions at today's Council meeting.

Rep. Susie Byrd says she is in favor of overriding the veto.

Representatives Emma Acosta, Melina Castro and Ann Morgan Lilly have not yet returned our calls.
