Coronado High School Student Killed In Juarez

JUAREZ - 15 year-old Tania Lozoya was killed at a birthday party Saturday night when she was hit by a stray bullet.

The Coronado High School softball player was just one of many victims in a bloody weekend across the border. NewsChannel Nine has learned that 20 people were killed in Juarez over the weekend.

This recent wave of violence includes the execution of two men at a North Juarez bar on Friday. We're told a group of gunmen entered the San Martin bar, a well-known tourist bar, and opened fire.

Federal agents say they rushed to the scene but the shooters had already fled.

Our media partners at the El Paso Times report in all, 13 people were killed on Friday, six on Saturday and at least two were killed yesterday.

As for the friends and classmates of Lozoya, we're told grief counselors will be available at Coronado High School today.
