EL PASO - An El Paso police officer has resigned after being charged with aggravated robbery.

In a statement released this morning, the police department said, "At this time Alberto Madrid is no longer employed by the City of El Paso as a Police Officer."

Specific details surrounding Madrid's departure have not been released.

The 18-year police veteran most recently was accused of stealing a money box from a wedding.  He also was arrested in 2002 for driving while intoxicated and assault causing bodily injury.

Madrid was then arrested for a second DWI in 2006.

All the DWI cases against Madrid were dismissed.

Give this Jerk another month, with his probable clean record resignation from El Payasos Police dept, he should be applying and getting hired at the Sheriffs department. This animal deserves to be working for animal control, if they would hire him. we need more of these badge heavy jerks off the El Payso Police Dept.

To all El Pasoans, especially 4moonshine who said "If people would worry about themselves .." Police Officers are not ordinary citizens, nor are firemen, they chose their profession, they choose to represent themselves "above us" to serve us. To the policemen & firemen, we know you are not all the same, thank you, but "one bad apple"...too many policemen "think" they are above us citizens, they are better than us. Now we learn how EPPD goes "above & beyond" to take care of their own!!!

Yes I totally understand where u are coming from, my husband worked @ the sheriffs as a Sgt. here in the Panhandle, but I do believe that a better person would put ALL of these people that try to serve us in our prayers instead of being so harsh to judge them!

Finally EPPD does something right!!!! Officer Smith should be next!!!!!

This is why the world is so bad off. If people would worry about themselves and not be so concerned about what others mistakes are. Besides look at their own lives I'm sure we all have plenty of things we should fix and majority of the time they are worse! And to the person that is interested in knowing about what happened there is nothing you need to keep worrying about because I'm sure you didn't worry about him before this happened and now look at you investigating his life.

Now if we can get some of the other Jerks that deserve to be out of uniform, I would say it is a step in the right direction. The public is entitled to know if this was a firing, or a friendly resignation ie(clean record to join another peace officer force somewhere else). Kinda would like to find out more.

One down and out....infinite more need to go same route!

All the cases against Madrid were dismissed? Does that mean the wedding party got its money back? Its good he was dismissed from the police force but there are still consequences for his behavior.
