Two 20-year sentences to be served consecutively

A tight embrace from a mother who lost her son with the brother of the man convicted of killing Jonathan Cervoni.

Patricia Montes told us she forgives Hector Tellez for killing her son Jonathan back in 2011. Tellez was convicted of driving drunk and killing 2 16-year old teenagers who were helping a friend with car troubles.

Tellez will be spending 40 years in prison and will be eligible for parole after 10 years. However, if he is granted parole he will have to immediately serve another 20 years in prison for the 2nd intoxication manslaughter charge. His 15-year sentence will be served at the same time as his first 20 year sentence in prison for the aggravated assault charge he was found guilty of.

A jury found Hector Tellez guilty on two counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of aggravated assault on Wednesday. A collective $30,000 was also called for in the sentence.

It took the jury about three hours to decide Hector Tellez's punishment. The decision came a hours after tearful testimony from Tellez's family.

Hector Tellez himself was seen shedding a tear while his family members testified on his behalf. He even broke down at the stand himself. Family members say Tellez has been despondent and suicidal since the accident.

Tellez was found guilty for killing two teens who were helping a friend on the side of the road. Tellez drove drunk and hit Aaron Carrillo and Jonathon Cervoni, and injured Mark Dobbs.

Tellez' test results from that night revealed a blood alcohol level almost 3 times the legal limit. He had heroine in his system, according to reports of the investigation.

Patricia Montes is a beautiful & forgiing person. I hope I never have to find out if I could be as forgiving as her. The loss of a child is unthinkable to me. I hope that she is able to move on & knows that there will come a time when she & her son will be together again & that between now & then he is looking out for her from Heaven. I hope Tellez behaves himself in prison & uses that time in as constructive a way as he can. Please don't drink alcohol or use drugs & if you do then don't drive!
