AUSTIN - A bill that would require police to check people's immigration statuses after they're taken into custody has been stalled for now.

The House had passed the bill, but a Senate committee stopped it in its tracks.

Many people are concerned that if the bill passes it will lead to racial profiling in Texas.

There's still more than a week left in session, and a chance it could move forward.

Police Officers have NO Right to ask for anyone's Citizenship. The tenth amendment clearly states that States and Federal Government keep divided sovereignty. Wake up people, we are deviating from the US Constitution. Citizenship is a federal matter, not states.

i hope it does move foward. They fight to carry a TX DL which they shouldnt be getting anyways other then just a permit. If this happened then the officer knows they are foreign and no questions are asked unless the E-verify shows they are here illegally.

A cop takes my DL and runs a check so why can't they do the same to the foreigners. Stop with the double standards people.

All americans have to declare their citizenship to any officer in any other country so why is this any different
