Congressman Beto O'Rourke kicks off re-election campaign for second term
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The pimary election is nine months away and Congressman Beto O'Rourke is gearing up for a second term.
He held a campaign kickoff and fundraising event in Downtown El Paso Saturday evening. O'Rourke said althout it feels as though he was just sworn in to office, he's ready to start campaigning.
"If re-elected, we're going to continue this very ambitious program of making sure that we do the most to make El Paso as competitive as it can be, get as many jobs as possible in this region and represent El Paso and the border with pride," said O'Rourke.
O'Rourke said a second term would help him build on things he has already done in Congress, including working closely with members of the military and their families, helping veterans with filing claims and cutting bridge wait times.
As of right now, there are no other candidates in the race.
The primary election is in March, the general election is in May.
