Conference to explore child abuse issues
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Thursday is the 4th annual Child Welfare Law Conference, which explores issues related to child abuse cases in the Borderland.
It's also an opportunity for local lawyers, medical professionals, educators and social workers to learn more about medical issues involved in child abuse and neglect cases.
From September 2012 to August of 2013, Child Protective Services investigated 4,300 cases of child abuse and neglect in El Paso alone.
Of those cases more than 200 cases were filed with the Court.
If you'd like to attend the conference will be held Thursday, September 19, 2013, at the University of Texas at El Paso Student Union Building East - 3rd Floor, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The cost of attending the Conference is $50 for attorneys, $30 for all other professionals, and $20 for full time students. The cost includes breakfast, lunch, and a CD of the day's presentations.
Participants will be eligible to receive 7 credit-hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE), including 1 credit-hour of Ethics and 7 credit-hours of Continuing Education Units (CEU).
