It was a full day of fun in Las Cruces all for a good cause. Drew's Motorplex Foundation hosted a two-day fundraiser to help build a motorplex for area motorcyclists.

Drew Jaramillo, a well-known stunt rider in Las Cruces lost his life in a motorcycle crash in March.
One of his dreams was building a motorplex and his family has taken on the task of realizing his dream. This fundraiser this weekend gets them one step closer.
Drew's Motorplex Foundation fundraiser started with a morning car show, followed by an awards ceremony. Throughout the day, dozens of people showed up for an afternoon of live music, good food and kid friendly fun.
"So far it's been going really well. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves," said Steve Jaramillo.
Jaramillo is leading the efforts to help achieve his son's dream of building a motorplex in the Las Cruces area.
“(It will be) a place for people to go and enjoy the sport of drag racing… I think this area needs something like that," said Jaramillo.
His son Drew was a skilled stunt-rider who passed away after a motorcycle crash.
In his memory, the foundation is hoping to buy about 50 acres of land on the outskirts of town and develop the motorplex.
"We're still a pretty large way off from that but we got some pretty good members that are helping,” said Jaramillo.
While the fundraiser is a start, Jaramillo said the community has been really supportive, including legendary boxing referee Rocky Burke.
"It’s great for the community," said Burke.
Burke volunteered as the celebrity referee for some of the amateur boxing matches.
"I’m ready for some boxing. When you're able to get up off the mat and win a fight same thing happens in life," said Burke.
The fundraiser continues Sunday with more live music food and fun for the whole family starting at 8 a.m. at the Dream Center located off of Valley and Pichacho.
