Community Honors Trooper With Memorial Monument
EL PASO — The Trooper Javier Arana Jr. Memorial Monument was dedicated Monday in El Paso in honor of the fallen trooper, who was killed in a traffic collision March 24.
“Trooper Arana gave his life for the people of Texas, and today the people of Texas remember his sacrifice,” said Director Steven McCraw. “Trooper Arana will always hold a place of honor with our department, and our thoughts and prayers remain with his family and friends. Trooper Arana will never be forgotten, and this monument will be a constant reminder to Texans and all who visit this memorial site of his courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to protecting the people of this great state.”
He began working as a DPS trooper in 2010, and was stationed in El Paso as a Highway Patrol trooper at the time of his death. Trooper Arana was the 86th DPS officer to die in the line of duty in DPS history.
