Two El Pasoans died in freezing temperatures last winter.
So, this year the Extreme Weather Task Force and Border International Trucking are asking for blanket and coat donations.
You might just save a life this way.
Donations will be distributed to the elderly, disabled and needy families who can't afford to turn on the heat during the winter months.
"Think about what you have and look at your neighbor, look at people down the street, drive around look at people. There are people sleeping on the streets that don't have anything, whether it be their fault not their fault, doesn't matter. They are human beings just like we are," John Anderson from Border International Trucking said.
"To let those that are in need know it's preventative. If the extreme weather task force can help with one blanket and we can save a life then we did something. We did something where we helped save a life and helped somebody make it through the winter months," Grace Ortiz from the Extreme Weather Task Force said.
You can drop off blankets or coats at any local fire station, sheriff substation or at Border International Trucking.
