The El Paso Fire Department, in partnership with the Extreme Weather Task Force needs more help to provide blankets to those in need.

As the temperatures drop, the need for blankets each winter increases here in the borderland.
Last winter, four individuals, two of them elderly, died in El Paso county due to cold weather.

You can help make a difference in your community...
"The way that it works, you call 211 and they make the referral to Adult Protective Services. We in turn, working through our community, we ensure those blankets get redistributed to those who qualify," said Adult Protective Services' Patrick Turley.

New blanket donations can be dropped off any time at local fire stations or El Paso County sheriff sub-stations.

Or you can mail monetary donations payable to the local emergency planning committee.
