Clint Border Patrol station opens
CLINT, TX — While we're hearing about budget cuts across the nation, today a new border patrol station opened its doors in Clint.
We got a look around at the 51,000 sq. ft. facility, which will take the place of the Fabens station.
It can accommodate 300 more agents in the new energy-efficient building.
Some say it's long overdue.
"This is a much needed facility for the amount of agents in this area. Now it's a facility for them to fit into," said Clint Field Operations Supervisor, Richard Alvarado.
"And with the energy efficiency of it, we're actually not using as much power as we did in the other station," he said.
The new station's solar panel system produces more energy than it uses.
The Fabens station was originally made for 75 agents.
