City Representative Cortney Niland is asking for an investigation into the El Paso Police and Fire Departments' pension fund practices.

This, after questions surfaced when the pension fund's director Robert Stanton resigned last week, then rescinded his resignation Monday.

Mayor John Cook says an audit of the pension fund will be presented to City Council at Tuesday's meeting.

Niland is asking for council to vote on a separate investigation.

I hope there ia a full audit and depending on the results an investigation of where the money has gone. Their board does not seem concerned and that is very troubling to me. The fireman that has been their spokesman lately does not seem credible to me. I for one say that the city has given them enough and until they can prove that they know how to manage and make their own pension fund grow then they should get no more money from the citizenry.
