Four-Day Work Week Starts This Week
City Hall is closed today due to the start of the four-day work week.
The City of El Paso expects to save at least $55,000 by making some city employees work four days a week this summer. It also expects to save close to $340,000 in gas and other commuting expenses.
About 2,200 employees will work ten-hour days Monday through Thursday but take every Friday off through August 28th.
Under the pilot program, the following departments will be affected:
- all departments at City Hall
- the Information Technology help desk
- the City Engineering Department
- Museum and Cultural Affairs
- Parks and Recreation
The following departments will not have any changes:
- El Paso International Airport
- Bridges
- El Paso Police Department
- Municipal Courts
- Sun Metro
- General Services
- El Paso Library
- El Paso Zoo
