City of El Paso collects thousands in library fees
The City of El Paso has collected more than $3,000 in library fees.
El Paso City Council voted in August to charge county residents an annual fee to check out books at city libraries. The charges started on October 5th.
Library officials said so far 76 people have purchased six month cards for $25 and 24 people have purchased a $50 dollar, 12 month card. That adds up to $3,100 for the city.
County residents are only charged to check out books, but they're still able to use library computers for free.
