el paso — Where will City Hall go and how much will it cost to move it to make room for a Triple-A baseball team?
City Council debated for nearly 3 hrs,but they came to a decision Tuesday. They were considered three buildings as relocation options: the Luther building, 801 and 811 Texas, and 300 N. Campbell.
A big talking point was that IT department having specific requirements. So IT was going to be relocated to the Luther building, but the motion to move it there died. So the city will not buy the Luther building at a cost of $17.9m. Even with that savings, City Council voted to authorize the city manager to continue negotiations to buy 301 Campbell which is the El Paso times building, and 801 and 811 Texas.
The combined estimated costs of those two would be 21.9 million dollars.
