City airlift operation set for Sunday
The move will mean street closures
EL PASO — On Tuesday City Council approved an exemption to allow an airlift operation that will close several downtown streets Sunday morning from 7:00 a.m. to noon.
Why the operation? Motorola Solutions has been contracted by the City to provide a new public safety communications system. A portion of the radio equipment is slated to be installed at the Wells Fargo Building on Kansas Street. The system requires back-up power should electric utilities fail; this need will be addressed by installing a back-up generator on the roof of the Wells Fargo Building via airlift.
The El Paso Police Department and the El Paso Fire Department will assist in the operation to ensure the public’s safety during the airlift operation.
