Citizens Say Gangs Are Taking Over Their Neighborhood...

It is incidents like Sundays shooting in northeast El Paso that has some people concerned. 18 year-old Fernie Gonzalez and Erika Cochran were arrested for the attack that injured 5 people. Gang sources and neighbors say Gonzalez is a member of the "Lopez Maravilla" gang or LMV.

Rob Gallardo, director of Operation No Gangs, an advocacy group, says LMV is a legit gang, "It has it's origins in Los Angeles, this group has been here since the 1970's. They have a strong presence in the northeast and are dead set on getting control of the northeast."

Evidence of the gang's battle with other groups can be seen on Gonzalez's home. The windows have been smashed and the walls charred from a molotov cocktail.  Gonzalez's rival gang, "Los Midnight Locos," even tagged their name on the home.

El Paso police say they are aware of the situation and understand why neighbors are concerned.

"We do come around and we do what we can as far as providing extra patrols," said detective Mike Baranyay.

But even with extra police presence in the area Gallardo said it may be too late to solve the problem, "It's going to keep on going and my fear is that it will result in a death."

Gallardo gives citizens this advice, "Just leave it alone, let the police handle it, but just take note and report whatever you see."

Kill them, dress nice, and just cordially ask them if they are in a gang, and then pull the trigger, kill them one by one and post ther heads on steaks just like they used to do for pirates and thiefs long ago. That will be your anti gang "tag". A few innocent will be lost in the fight, neighbors unite and start an anti gang gang. Hold nieghborhood meetings to share intelligence on who in your community is involved with gang activity and then kill them. Take back you community your life!

I aggree they are a joke. They don't have proper education or training to be cops. All the cops are hired locally and they are ex-gang members themselves.

I've lived in the northeast for the longest time. Got tired of it but now i noticed because they don't take care of a certain hot spot it spreads like an infection to other parts of the city. More and more stabbings on the west side now and east.

So go buy a gun just in case..to those who are actually good cops..Kudos for what you do ^_^

You can report and report and report all you want. The fact of the matter is that half of the time police don't show up to a call till 4 or 5 hours later, and somethimes they don't show up at all. I live in the northeast too and unfortunately I live across the street from some really annoying people who party and carry on all hours of the night. I've reported it to the police several times and they don't even show up so I am handling it. I may not have a 9MM but CO2 powered BB guns work too.

I've been saying that for a long time that gang activity is an act of terrorism and should be taken care off in a different way by law enforcemment and by the community. Shoot to kill could be a simple solution as they are a danger to the community and are a threat to society. These idiots have no respect for anything as they associate with guns, drugs and killings. What is the difference between them and the Taliban. These idiots don't even pay taxes and they want to claim their turf.

When you call the police they say they are busy with other calls & will get to you when they can. I even had to make a report over the phone before. My family will be moving from El Paso in May, & I can't wait. I have never felt safe in the 3 years that I have lived here. I used to live in the Northeast & I know how bad it gets. There just aren't enough police officers to handle this city. They need to hire more instead of spending money on useless stuff.

These police in el paso are a joke""""I have given up calling them for anything-called most recently about kids standing on my truck trying to rip off security camera from corner of house-I had video of it and everything?they acted like I was in the wrong for calling it in-guess I am not Brown enough to get decent treatment at the border here-lots of others share this same opinon here.

Domestic bread plain and simple. It is an organized and delicious group of food whose only goal is to instill hunger and create fullness. There is no difference between them, wheat, rye, or marble. Where is bread? When will we understand that breads are domestic necessities, how many more flavors have to get made or eaten, like the sandwich that was eaten by the Aztecas in Juarez. They do not respect our recipe, our health and our ovens. DOMESTIC BREAD.

I agree with sevilla and ptg1970, the best thing to do is to protect yourself and your family. I have the same problem in my block in opalstone street here in the Northeast, kids tag walls, smoke and sell drugs, drive by at high speeds while kids are playing outside, is not safe anymore and you don't get to see a squad car to stop them and if you report them they don't do nothing. I come from Los Angeles and is sad to say that I am starting to see the same things here in El Paso.

You want to know why there is gang problem not only here but in every city in the U.S.; a problem that seemingly didnt exist before the 70's? We can thank the Controlled Substance Act of 1970 i.e. our drug laws! Drug prohibition is the SOURCE of their power. We outlaw drugs so only criminals will sell them. Money is all they care about so they will sell to ANYBODY, regardless of age and no regard for purity levels. They use the money to buy more guns and gain inlfuence. Legalize and bring PEACE!

That's right--WATCH AND TELL!! These people succeed only if they can run in secrecy and fear. If no secrets, no fear!

Domestic terrorism plain and simple. It is an organized and armed group of people whose only goal is to instill fear and create chaos. There is no difference between them, Al Qaeda, the Taliban, or Somali pirates. Where is homeland security? When will we understand that gangs are domestic terrorists, how many more people have to get hurt or killed, like the couple that was executed by the Aztecas gang in Juarez. They do not respect our laws, our communities and our citizens. DOMESTIC TERRORIST.

report everything that seems amiss to the police, and purchase arms to protect your families.
