The Child Crisis Center of El Paso opened a second thrift store Downtown, and all sales will benefit abused children.

The organization's first store, called the "Discovery Shop" in East El Paso has been open for over 20 years.

The Downtown location is expected to attract lots of foot traffic. Mayor John Cook attended the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The thrift store will sell gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, and toys.

Al Valerde is the Executive Director of the Child Crisis Center and he says the community's generosity has helped countless children.

"The reason why we're able to open thrift stores up is because the community is so good with the Child Crisis Center of El Paso, that they donate so many items, clothing, furniture, accessories, and we have so much that we were able to increase our floor space by opening a new store," said Valerde.

The Child Crisis Center has raised over $4 million through thrift store sales.

Store hours for the Downtown location are Tuesday through Sunday, 10am to 6pm.
