The El Paso Chihuahuas home opener is still months away, but people lined up Saturday afternoon to be a part of the action.
A line wrapped around the courtyard at the Convention Center for the Chihuahuas job fair today.
People lined up starting at seven Saturday morning, five hours before the job fair even started.
"There’s a bunch of people that want to be a part of this and I think that is awesome,” said Chihuahuas General Manager Brad Taylor. “We are looking for people that want to come out here in numbers like this and their excited. They are a little nervous some of them. But that means they care. That's the kind of person we want to get involved with us."
There are 150 seasonal positions available, from retail and concessions to security and ticket takers.
The applicants ranged from teens looking for their first job, to adults just wanting to help out.
"It's just something so big and new to El Paso,” said Franklin High School senior Brittany Carock. “It's like a lot of people are excited for it. I'm excited for it. I just want to be part of this huge thing coming back to the city.
"I love El Paso, Texas. I think this will be a great idea for me. I already have a full time job. But I want to do this for my city," Aydre Rodriguez said.
Those applicants will find out in about two weeks if they got the job. If you missed your chance to apply in person Saturday, you can still apply online at the Chihuahuas website.
If you are unable to attend the fair, email your resume to: email@example.com . You will be considered related to your skills and experience.
