Trying to sneak chicharrones or pork rinds into the U.S. from Mexico can cost you.

Starting Thursday, Customs agents began enforcing tougher rules at the border for importing cooked pork skins.

The new rules are meant to target exotic animal diseases that have been popping up in certain parts of Mexico.

Chicharrones from Chihuahua are allowed but you have to declare them at the border and they have to be a certain kind.
