EL PASO - The sexual assault case against former Ethics Commission Chairman David Chavez may continue in civil court, despite being dropped by the District Attorney.
Tonight we've learned the family of the teen girl who claims she was molested and impregnated by Chavez may take legal action against his estate. The District Attorney officially dropped the criminal case in light of Chavez's suicide, but the civil suit would seek money to help care for Chavez's alleged child.
If the family moves forward with the civil suit it won't happen until after the baby is born in January, and a DNA test is completed.
