A Socorro couple faces felony charges for failing to control their five pitbulls that attacked and severely injured a man last Friday, Sheriff's deputies said.

Armando Gutierrez said he was walking by the couple's yard last Friday evening when the dogs got loose, attacked and killed his dog, and bit off his ear and part of his nose.

The couple faces third degree felony charges of attack by dog resulting in serious bodily injury. The charge is punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison and up to a $10 thousand fine.

what happened to the pit bulls and owners that were on Eastland street?

It is about time that the authorities are finally taking legal action against pet owners who intentially have dogs that are vicious & are allowed to get out where the owners know they will attack people. It is not the dog it is how the dog is raised, trained & kept. Owners need to be held responsible. I would not let the Socorro couple own any more dogs (actaully any animal).

What ever happened to the dog attack on Eastland Street. Never heard anything else.
