Car Thefts Down 27%

EL PASO - Don't worry too much about parking your car in the Sun City, that's because the El Paso Police Department says for the fifth straight year the city has seen a decrease in vehicle thefts.
This year car thefts are already down by 27% compared to this same time last year, and a press release from the police department says car thefts are down across the city and in every police regional command area.
El Paso Police Department Statistics from the past 5 years:
2006 = 3552 reported vehicle thefts
2007 = 3049 reported vehicle thefts
2008 = 2753 reported vehicle thefts
2009 = 1890 reported vehicle thefts
2010 = 1516 reported vehicle thefts (preliminary numbers)
