The superintendent of the Canutillo Independent School District is defending himself.

EPSID Interim-Superintendent Terri Jordan alleges Canutillo Superintendent Damon Murphy ordered principals to hold international transfer students back while working at EPSID.

The Canutillo School Board spent over an hour listening to academic leaders defend their transfer policy.
When we asked superintendent Damon Murphy about the email he allegedly sent while working at EPISD. He didn't say much, but he didn't deny anything.
Canutillo Superintendent Doctor Damon Murphy heard aloud the email in which he allegedly told EPISD principals to hold students back if they transfer from outside The United States.

Murphy is making it clear that whatever he did or didn't do while working for EPISD is in the past.

"The situation in EPISD, I have the highest regard in Dr. Jordan and I wish EPISD all the best. I haven't been there in 2 1/2 years. I'm in Canutillo now and we are moving forward,” said Murphy.

The Canutillo School Board seems confident to move forward with Murphy.  Board President Laure Searls hints that EPISD is trying to cast an un-fair light on her district.

"Sometimes people feel when the kitchen is hot, they want to get out. Turn the heat up to someone else. So, I don't know what to think about it other than we are on top. We are doing great,” said Searls.

When allegations against Murphy were released, Searls says she was confident her district had done nothing wrong.

"We have the board that we have. We have the administrators in place. We care enough and that it's long term care,” said Searls.

Murphy walked away before we finished asking questions, but he did say that he is satisfied with Wednesday night's meeting.

The heat has been turned up Canutillo Board member and President Laure Searls. Thanks to Senator Shapleigh and the FBI. The last two years have been ridiculous for the citizens of El Paso with all the public corruption in this city!!!!

Great example by Damon Murphy with his statement when he worked for EPISD, his example would be like a bank-robber robbing a bank in the past and then he tells the investigators; What I did or didn't do while robbing banks is in the past!!!!
