El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies said they arrested Canutillo ISD Board President Armando Rodriguez on DWI charges Thursday.

Deputies are not releasing much information, but in a statement Rodriguez said he did the right and responsible by calling 911 after the accident.

He said, “This incident should in no way reflect upon the positive work that the Canutillo school district and its board of trustees have accomplished on behalf of our children.”

Deputies have not made comment on the crash, but records show he was booked in jail at 7:55 a.m.

Rodriguez was elected to the board in 2005 at the age of 20, making him the youngest person to win an elected office in El Paso County.
