Campaign Urges to "Toss No Mas"
LAS CRUCES — It's a collective 'clean house' effort by the city of Las Cruces.
The Keep Las Cruces Beautiful and New Mexico Clean and Beautiful programs will host the 18th annual Toss No Mas campaign – formerly known as the Trek for Trash campaign – on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Hundreds of volunteers are asked to help collect litter at parks, schools, streets and business properties from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 20. Toss No Mas volunteers will be treated to a free lunch hosted by Mike Tellez and the Dream Center. The lunch will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Dream Center, 1400 N. 6th St. in Las Cruces.
Last year, 673 volunteers collected more than 16 tons of litter during the annual event. The goal this year is to collect at least 18 tons of litter.
Individual volunteers, groups and civic organizations are encouraged to register before Oct. 15 for the Toss No Mas campaign which is a great opportunity to show pride in Las Cruces. To volunteer, call Craig Fenske at (575) 528-4723 or click on the “Keep Las Cruces Beautiful” link at www.CLCPD.com.
