Busy Holiday Travel Tips
EL PASO- The Transportation Security Administration says today was one of the busiest travel days of the year.
The airport was bustling with travelers going to and from their holiday destinations. TSA expects it to get busier and it nears Christmas. The last time Christmas fell on a Sunday was 2005.
TSA recommends you show up two hours early before your flight. "We're not grinch, but please if you don't have to wrap your packages before you take them on your trip, don't. It's easier for the officers to recognize a toy and not have to unwrap it," said TSA Federal Security Director Mark Momsen. "It's much easier to drink your coffee at the gate, than it is to be in line worrying about getting on your flight."
Momsen suggests a few time-saving tips: be ready with your picture I.D., your jacket off, your laptop out and your liquids out.
Elise Silva and her husband just got married. They are on their way back to their home in El Salvador for the holidays and they made sure to arrive early to the airport. "We walked in, we had a cat, we had a rental car, we had extra luggage, I threw my wedding dress into the suitcase. I had two pounds to shave off at the last minute and we were able to do everything with out worry," said Silva.
Mark Kittleson, another traveler, was relaxing and sipping coffee while waiting for his flight. "You know I've always tried to get here as much as possible, it gives you just a little more time to relax. There's nothing more frustrating than coming to an airport and seeing a long line at the gate."
