BROWNSVILLE, TX - A police officer shot and killed a Brownsville middle school student, after they say he brought a gun to school.

Police said the 15-year-old, whose identity hasn't been revealed, showed the gun off at school. The campus was immediately put on lockdown.

Police said after they arrived, the eighth grader engaged an officer, and that's when the officer shot him.

The teen died at a hospital later that morning.

Investigators don't know how the student got the gun, or his motive for bringing it to school.
