One organization is using federal money to continue to help kids. The El Paso branch of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America received a $35,000 grant from the Department of Justice. The club is using the money to fund extracurricular activities for children and pay membership fees for new recruits.
"Our focus is mainly on the kids and giving them a safe place and a positive place where they can come in and spend their time, as opposed to being on the streets late at night," said Vanessa Saenz with the Boys and Girls Clubs.
There are three Boys and Girls Clubs in El Paso.
