El Paso - City leaders are celebrating something you do not often associate with El Paso: Tourism.
Today, Mayor John Cook presented the keys to the city to the USBC Women's Bowling Congress.
The tournament has been going on at the convention center and will continue through July 4.
Mayor John Cook says El Paso is starting to be recognized more as a tourist destination...
"A lot of people don't know it but tourism in El Paso, we don't think of it being such a big deal but about $1.5 billion a year of direct spending is done by people who are visitors to our city whether they're here for business or here for something like this bowling congress."
The mayor's presentation is part of National Tourism Week.
