From billboards to stores plastered with signs, there was no ignoring Wednesday night's super sized jackpot. The powerball jackpot was a whopping $320 million, the fourth largest in history. Stores across Texas and New Mexico were packed with lotto customers, all of them lining up for their shot at the big prize.

"First time ever buying lottery tickets. My mom told me to buy one because she saw something on Facebook, so i'm buying ten bucks worth," said Dixie Richards one of the Powerball hopefuls purchasing tickets on Wednesday.

At one point Wednesday, Texas lottery officials say they were selling 2,666 lottery tickets per minute. Employees at one small store in Las Cruces say they typically sell about 250 tickets a day. On Wednesday, it was about five times that amount.

However, not everyone got caught up in the lotto hype. It's true your odds of winning are only 1 in 175 million, and many say they've been there, done that.

"I bought a lotto ticket every single week. One ticket a week cost me a dollar. I paid $52 for an entire year, and never won anything. I said, no more, not even with big jackpots," said one man.

However, for others the lure of $320 million was just too much to resist. It's the 9th largest jackpot in world lottery history, and a prize that promises fame and fortune. The catch? You have to spend money to make money. The winning lottery numbers are 6, 27, 46, 51, 56 and the powerball is 21.
