Border Patrol agent accused of assaulting Bowie Teen
EL PASO — A U.S. Border Patrol agent is being investigated for allegedly harassing and attacking a Bowie High School student. It happened in November on Delta Drive. The 17 year-old claims he was approached from behind by an agent, placed in a chokehold, and then had a gun pointed to his head. The student also claims the agent asked him if was a "wetback." Border patrol officials are investigating, but say they need cooperation from the family.
"What's most important here is that these allegations are factual in that the people making the allegations are willing to provide and cooperate with the investigation. I can't sit here and tell you yes, it did happen, or no, it did not happen. That's part of the investigation," said Ramiro Cordero, a spokesperson with Border Patrol.
The names of the student and the agent have not yet been released.
