Bilingual Brains May Perform Better

Learning more than one language could protect the brain from dementia -- or at least delay its onset.
Researchers in Toronto reviewed recent studies on the effects of bilingualism on the brain.
They found speaking at least two languages strengthens areas of the brain involved in attention and control, and improves cognitive reserve -- which other studies have shown can postpone the symptoms of dementia.
