Your travels across our border may move more quickly, if you know when to travel.

Customs and Border Protection is sending a reminder to the public about the hours their vehicular and pedestrian lanes are staffed at our ports of entry.

The "All Lanes Open Initiative" began two years ago at El Paso ports, with all vehicular and pedestrian lanes staffed between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and on Sundays from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Now, the city of El Paso is funding more staffed lanes at these specific crossings and times: vehicular lanes at the Paso Del Norte and Ysleta crossings from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 p.m. until midnight Sunday. Then, additional staffing is being funded Mondays at the vehicle lanes on the Paso del Norte crossing from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. and the pedestrian lanes at PDN from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What's sad is that even with all the lanes staffed they are still dragging their feet to get people through. Sometime the line will just sit still and won't move for better than 15 minutes. Then they blame it on "birth certificates". Plus they need to get one lane set up for motorcycles, because they all come over and start cutting the lanes.
