El Paso - A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked completion of a major project near Riverside High School.

Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate the beautification of Knights Drive.

It's the first project of its kind south of the freeway.

One organizer, Andy Ramirez, says he could not be happier...

"Oh we are ecstatic to have it happening. I mean what with the signs, the lighting, the vegetation, I mean it's just a beautiful place."

The beautification project cost $1 million.
