Ban on outdoor burns extended
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The outside burn ban continues for El Paso County residents, for the second year in a row. County Commissioners court met Monday morning and extended the ban on outdoor burning that effects all unincorporated areas of the County.
The ban protects residents from the threat of severe damage due to wildfires. The first time the County banned outdoor fires was back in April 2011 and they've renewed the ban every 90 days since that time.
They say farmers are still allowed to burn crops and residents can also barbecue. They say the ban is set in place to prevent any unnecessary burning.
