EL PASO - A mess on the freeway slowed the commute for drivers headed east out of downtown.

Several vehicles piled up near I-10 East and Piedras.

The crash involved at least two semis, several cars and three pick-up trucks.

Two lanes of traffic had to be shut down.

One of the semis was said to be carrying car batteries and spilled part of the load onto the freeway.
