The Animal Service Center of the Mesilla Valley held an adoption fair Thursday.

The center partnered with Convergys during their job fair to help find animals forever homes.

For the rest of the week, the shelter is offering $25 off adoptions as the ASPCA and Rachel Ray $100K Challenge comes to an end.

The contest compares the number of animals saved last summer to this summer and out of 50 facilities nationwide, the shelter with the biggest difference wins a $100,000.

So far the Animal Service Center has saved the lives of more than a thousand animals and ranks just outside the top 10 in large part because of community support.

"They've been helping us with the adoptions the've been advocating for us," Jan Wright with the shelter.

The shelter also hosts weekly adoption fairs at the Farmer's Market and Petco on Saturdays.

ASCMV is open 7 days a week off of Bataan Memorial Highway.

As a part of the contest, people can also vote for the shelter online and get the center one step closer to winning $25,000.
