Anthony, NM Celebrates Second Anniversary
ANTHONY, NM — The people in Anthony, New Mexico are celebrating the city's second anniversary.
Dozens of people joined in the birthday bash and the city's first Gordita Festival outside city hall. People enjoyed food booths, a gordita cook off and live music.
The mayor said the city has come a long way.
"Well it went from a non-incorporated community to a city,” said Mayor Arnulfo Castenada. “We've gone from absolutely nothing, just on paper to we have have an office. We have a police department administration. We're up to about 9 or 10 employees. We're moving along."
The festival is going on from noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
