The Humane Society announced the animals rescued from an El Paso home were now available for adoption. They were looking to find homes for all of them by week's end. The shelter is located at 4991 Fred Wilson Ave., and the phone number is (915) 532-6971.

A shocking discovery inside an East El Paso home led animal Services to remove 54 dogs and one cat from the home. The field officer said he could smell the animals' stench from outside the home.

"I doubt that its easy keeping all of your house clean and being able to take care of your dogs," said neighbor, Reyhana Orozco.

The owner released custody of the animals to the City of El Paso last week.

The city does not limit the number of dogs or cats that may be kept at a home, but it does require that animals be provided with the proper quality of life.

Animal Services Veterinarian Bernie Page says surprisingly, the dogs were not in that bad of shape.

"Reasonably healthy some of these animals look compared to many of the hoarding cases that we do get," said Page.

Animal Services does not have enough space for any more animals and need the public's help to adopt.
