EL PASO - City, state and federal leaders will break ground on one of El Paso's biggest highway projects a week from tomorrow.
The Americas Interchange was identified within the $1 billion 2008 Comprehensive Mobility Plan for expansion and upgrades.
The project includes building three direct connectors, widening I-10 and Loop 375, realigning frontage roads, utility relocations, drainage improvements, right of way acquisitions, and landscaping and aesthetic treatments.
It will provide relief in an increasingly important and congested intersection.
Today, the interchange handles an estimated 200,000 vehicles daily; but within twenty years, that figure is projected to increase by 50%.
