Amazon.com says it is hiring 50,000 temporary workers at order-fulfillment centers across the U.S. this holiday season.

Amazon currently employs 20-thousand people at 40 "fulfillment centers", where the seasonal employees will be placed.

The company said the temporary positions could turn full-time for thousands of workers after the holidays.

If you're interested in working for Amazon this holiday season, head over to the company's fulfillment careers website, where you can search for open positions and apply online. The site currently lists available seasonal warehouse jobs in a number of states with salaries ranging from $11.00 to $13.50 an hour.

Amazon is just one of several big seasonal hiring announcements recently.
Macy's, Kohl's and Toys 'R' Us have all announced major holiday hiring plans.

Industry analysts say U-S retailers have so far announced plans to hire 413,700 holiday workers.

That's a five-year high for seasonal hiring.
