Alleged wrong-way driver arrested, charged with Intoxication Manslaughter

Mid-November wreck killed Gabriel Morales
(El Paso) KTSM — The alleged wrong way driver that killed 29-year-old Gabriel Morales back in November was booked into the El Paso County Jail Friday.
An El Paso Police Officer booked 49-year-old Larry Otero on a single charge of Intoxication Manslaughter that resulted from a crash that occurred on November 14, 2013.
Otero was allegedly driving the 2004 Mercedes that entered I-10 the wrong way and killed 29-year-old Gabriel Morales on November 14th. Morales died when his 2007 Mazda 6I was struck near the Zaragoza exit.
At the time, police said Otero was transported to Del Sol Medical Center with a possible broken leg.
According to court documents, Otero was previously charged with DWI in 2004, which was dismissed. He was also charged again with DWI in May of 2013, with a blood alcohol level of greater than .15.
Otero's bond is set at $50,000.00.
