Alamogordo Teacher Jailed on Sex Charges

ALAMOGORDO - A band director at Alamogordo High School is charged with having sex with a student.

Police say Daniel Hale had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl for a three month period starting last October.

Alamogordo High School's Web site says Hale has taught band there for three years.

He earned degrees from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.

Right now, Hale is being held in the Otero County Detection Center.

As a future Band Director I do not understand why individuals like this even follow a profession that will bring them in contact with minors. My past band director was dismissed from my school after he was accused of "Indecent conduct with a student". It makes no sense to me.
