After nearly three years and four days of testimony, a jury finally handed down a sentence for a local businessman who was facing intoxicated manslaughter charges.

Abraham was found not guilty, but not completely off the hook. Instead, Billy Abraham was found guilty of driving under the influence in a deadly crash.

It was back in the late night hours of July 21, 2010 that Abraham hit Jay Grady with his pick up truck in downtown El Paso. Grady later died.
Abraham then led police on a low speed chase for several miles, eventually being pulled over by border patrol agents.

"Billy Abraham never saw that man and the man went in front of him so quickly.Nobody, whether they'd been sober or drunk, would've been able to avoid that accident," said Abraham's Defense attorney, Dick DeGuerin.

The jury deliberated for close to fours or so before they came back with that verdict.

Receiving the lesser of the two charges, Abraham was visibly relieved. DeGuerin leaned over, patted him on the back and shook his hand. DeGuerin credited the two eyewitness accounts as part of the reason why Abraham was not convicted of manslaughter.
The court went right into the punishment phase and came back a short time later, with Abraham's punishment: 6 months in jail and a $2,000 dollar fine.
Abraham was allowed to go home for the night on an appelate bond because Abraham's attorney says he plans on filing an appeal within the next 30 days.

For Billy to want to appeal his DWI conviction just shows how arrogant and irresponsible the drunken punk is. His attorney says that Billy never even saw the victim which to me proves that Billy was drunk and is GUILTY of DUI and as a result having hit and killed the victim (yes I know the jury found him not guilty of the muder, I'm just saying that I would of found him guilty of that too. El Paso will be safer with Billy in jail even if it is for only 6 months. I can't wait for that to start.
