We are learning more about the progress being made to contact soldiers and veterans who were put at risk at William Beaumont Army Medical Center.
Of the more than 2,100 diabetes patients who were put at risk, 850 have been contacted directly.
The others, have only had phone messages left for them.
As we reported, the health scare was first made public last week when Beaumont released information that insulin injection pens were being used improperly.
Instead of the pens being used one per patient, the pens were used multiple times on multiple patients.
That put the more than 2,100 diabetes patients treated since August of 2007 at risk for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV. For the 300 people who have already been tested, we are told the bloodwork is being sent to two separate labs.
One of those labs checking specifically for the strains of Hepatitis and the other lab checking specifically for the strains of HIV.
The bloodwork will take anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks.
