5th victim dies following El Paso to Los Angeles bus crash
EL PASO (KTSM) — A fifth person has died following last month's deadly El Paso-to-Los Angeles bus crash.
The Riverside County Coroner's office identified the victim as 86-year-old Thomas Madrid of San Diego. Madrid died Tuesday at a hospital in Palm Springs, California, according to medical investigators.
Four other people were killed and roughly two dozen were injured in the May 21 crash near Blythe, Arizona, close to the Arizona-California border.
Investigators said the driver of the 'El Paso - Los Angeles Limousine Express' bus lost control after swerving to avoid large metal pipes that were scattered on the highway following a previous crash.
