SIERRA BLANCA - A mild earthquake caused more commotion than anything else in the Borderland last night.

You may have felt the ground shaking in El Paso.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake measured 4.3 on the Richter scale.

It was centered 34 miles southwest of Sierra Blanca and about 80 miles southeast of El Paso.

A geophysicist from the National Earthquake Information Center in Colorado says the quake hit in a remote area and there are no reports of damage.

He tells us our area has seen about five earthquakes in the past two years.

The quake is the talk of the town in the small community of Sierra Blanca.  A NewsChannel 9 team is there. We will have the latest information here on ktsm.com and tonight on NewsChannel 9.

EL PASO HAS A FAULT LINE THAT GOES RIGHT ALONG ALABAMA STREET-FOR THOSE THAT DID NOT KNOW!!!

good stuff.

LOL

Well let me tell you, last night and for the past couple of nights my house has been shaking and rattling. I think it was somewhere about a 7.0 on the ryhcter scale. There have been loud hums and rumblings that have kept me up the whole night. Finally I had to tell my wife to be more quiet and to go get me a beer and a sandwich.

LOL, so much for that Tempurpedic. I always thought it was a scam.

Here's something funny, this morning at around 6:30am a loud rumble woke me up. My house was rattling and shaking with a loud hum, by the time I was aware the ruckus stopped. Consciously I heard about 4 seconds of noise, as I watched the Today show the local updates reported the 4.3 earthquake in El Paso, I was stunned (Here's a story for the office). As I drove off exiting my garage I observed a large UHAUL van next door, they started early this morning.
