BERINO, NM — New details on a Berino man accused of molesting a 3-year-old boy.

44-year-old Dionicio Carmona was arrested last Wednesday and charged with one count of criminal sexual penetration.

A criminal complaint stated Carmona penetrated the boy with his finger while the boy said Carmona used a stick from a tree. 

Dona Ana County Sheriff's said Carmona was the primary caregiver for his girlfriend's three children.

They say the 3-year-old told his mother Carmona had hurt him and was afraid to go home.

According to court records, Carmona was charged with battery to a household member in 2010 but the case was dismissed.

He is currently being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with a $100,000 bond.
